Samsung Electronics has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with NVIDIA to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in mobile networks, particularly within Radio Access Networks (RAN). This partnership is set to revolutionize network architectures by leveraging NVIDIA’s advanced accelerated computing technology alongside Samsung’s AI-driven virtualized RAN (vRAN).
AI-Driven Network Innovations
Since early 2024, Samsung has been intensifying its AI research and network development efforts. One of the most notable achievements has been the successful interoperability demonstration between Samsung’s Open RAN-compliant vRAN and NVIDIA’s computing platform. Conducted in Samsung Research’s lab, this proof-of-concept showcased the seamless integration of GPU-accelerated computing into software-based mobile networks, paving the way for more efficient and intelligent telecommunications systems.
Showcasing AI-Powered RAN at MWC 2025
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, Samsung highlighted its leadership in AI-driven network solutions through joint demonstrations with members of the AI-RAN Alliance, including NVIDIA. These demonstrations included AI-based physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) estimation and non-uniform modulation, both of which exemplify innovative methods for optimizing network performance using AI.
